來自加拿大的NICKELBACK，以一曲｢How You Remind Me｣紅遍全世界，不但讓他們成為加國最具代表性的輸出品，也讓樂壇重新發現這些加拿大的優秀藝人。挾持著銷售長紅的餘威，主唱Chad Kroeger也受邀在電影｢蜘蛛人｣中單獨獻唱，也跟Saliva的Josey Scott合作電影宣傳曲，還參與Santana的作品演出。雖然有著如此盛名壓力，前作｢The Long Road｣並沒有讓歌迷失望，而且當時他們也沒有想到，這些經驗與過程，漸漸的造就了專輯｢All The Right Reasons正當理由｣的與眾不同。

1998年，他們解雇了自己的經紀人，原因是他們的經紀人並不能宣傳推廣他們，並且不能把他們帶到一個更高的地位。之後的時間裡，樂隊由Mike Kroeger主要負責財務方面，Chad Kroeger主要負責音樂方面，Ryan Vikedal則負責日程安排等。2000年初，第二張獨立專輯《TheState》正式發行。當時的加拿大搖滾音樂幾乎完全被國外的搖滾樂所佔領，他們 急需尋找自己本土化的搖滾樂。正在這時候，加拿大人發現了Nickelback樂隊，這使他們迅速竄紅，他們追求的post-grunge(後車庫音樂/ 後垃圾音樂)音樂風格成為歌迷的最愛，他們的巡回演唱會也成為了音樂界的熱點，他們的獨立專輯銷量也沒有敗給唱片產業。成為了搖滾明星的 Nickelback開始投身新專輯《Silver SideUp》的制作，在這張2001年發行的新專輯中, ChadKroeger在歌詞方面一改過去的含糊不清和隱喻，表達得更為直接，歌曲的創作也充滿 了靈氣也更為成熟，有的歌曲源于生活中的經歷，有的歌曲則只是在排練的瞬間就創作完成。

而在新專輯中還有Rick Parashar和Randy Staub兩位一流制作人來掌舵，所以《SilverSide Up》也成為了Nickelback在美國最為成功的專輯，該專輯曾經排在Billboard200排行榜的亞軍位置，並且誕生了多首搖滾單曲榜的冠軍單 曲，專輯銷量超過了500萬張。
此後，ChadKroeger又先後為電影《蠍子王(ScorpionKing)》
《蜘蛛俠(Spiderman)》《超 膽俠(Daredevil)》創作了歌曲並參與制作原聲帶。
